In the meeting, other stakeholders including Shri Bishnu Ram Nunisa, Vice-President, Assam Olympic Association; Shri Dhrubajyoti Kalita, General Secretary, Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) and Shri Hiren Gogoi, Treasurer, Assam Football Association were also present.

In the meeting, after a threadbare discussion, it was decided that ACA will take the responsibility of laying 4-5 centre cricket wickets and also develop the playground of Nehru Stadium which will provide 1 cricket ground and 2 football turfs. The overall endeavour of ACA is to bring the sports activities back into the Nehru Stadium in the way it had prevailed before 2014 when there were two football grounds and one cricket ground within the Nehru Stadium complex. However, in 2014, at the time of hosting the South Asian Games, the two football grounds were merged into one and the cricket ground was totally done away with.

This endeavour of ACA has been initiated with the active support of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam and ACA has volunteered to provide all manpower, technical support as well as funds to restore the status of the Nehru Stadium, Guwahati which enjoys the legacy of hosting 11 international cricket matches, Ranji Trophy, Wills Trophy, Zonal Matches with foreign teams in cricket as well as GSA First Division Cricket Leagues and School Cricket tournaments.
